Les Bois 1958

I stumbled upon this yearbook at work. It's Les Bois (The Woods) from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, 1958. I wasn't expecting the design to be so fresh and great! Throughout are awesome leaf drawings, bold color blocks of pink, orange and red, and springy hand-lettered headlines. How happy. More photos here.

Local Nectar: ArtReach

ArtReach's website describes the organization thus: "ArtReach began 3 years ago when Jack Fox, Associate Pastor of eXchange at Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute realized the power that art had in spiritual developement, relationships, and community building."

Spiritual development aside, it's simply a lot of fun to get your hands in some paint. The Tuesday that Rachel and I went, I ended up finger-painting my way to messy hands and a happy demeanor. To ArtReach's credit, the faith-based/Christian mission is more foundational that proselytizing – Jack Fox gives you painting tips and then lets you be.

Tuesdays are for adults and teens; Wednesday's are for [supervised] kids. Rachel's been going on Wednesdays with a child she mentors, and reports back that it's quite fun.
